Gold IPTV on Samsung and LG Smart TVs: Full Setup Guide

If your TV was made in the last few years, you probably do not need any extra box at all. Samsung and LG smart TVs can run Gold IPTV directly from an app on the TV itself. Here is how to set it up on each.

First: which system does your TV run?

  • Samsung smart TVs from roughly 2016 onward run Tizen
  • LG smart TVs from roughly 2016 onward run webOS
  • Sony, Philips, TCL and Hisense mostly run Android TV or Google TV — those follow the Android instructions instead

The method below covers Tizen and webOS, which work almost identically because both use the same family of player apps.

Step 1 — Install the player from your TV’s own store

  1. Open the app store on your TV — Samsung Apps on Samsung, LG Content Store on LG
  2. Search for IBO Player, IBO Pro Player or Smarters Player Lite
  3. Install it and open it

This is the part people miss: on a smart TV you do not sideload anything. The players are in the official store, so there are no unknown-sources settings to worry about.

Step 2 — Note your MAC address and device key

When the player opens for the first time it shows a screen with a MAC address and a device key. Do not skip past it. Take a photo of it with your phone.

These players are activated from a web page rather than by typing on your TV remote — which is a mercy, because typing a long password with a remote is miserable.

Step 3 — Activate from your phone or computer

  1. On your phone or laptop, go to the player’s activation website — it is printed on the same TV screen
  2. Enter the MAC address and device key exactly as shown
  3. Add your Gold IPTV playlist: give it any name, then paste the server URL, username and password from your activation email
  4. Save

Some players charge a small one-time activation fee for the app itself. That fee goes to the app developer, not to us, and it is separate from your Gold IPTV subscription.

Step 4 — Reload the app on your TV

Back on the TV, close the player completely and open it again. It will fetch the playlist you just added and start loading channels. Give it a minute or two on first launch.

Getting better picture quality

  • Use an ethernet cable if you can. Smart TV Wi-Fi chips are usually the weakest part of the TV. A cable fixes more streaming problems than any app setting.
  • Turn off motion smoothing in your TV’s picture settings. It adds delay and makes sport look strange.
  • Pick the right stream format in the player settings if channels stutter — some TVs handle one format noticeably better than the other.

When a smart TV is not the right choice

Honestly: if your TV is more than about six years old, the built-in processor will struggle with a 35,000-channel list, and no amount of setting-fiddling fixes that. A cheap Firestick or Android box plugged into the same TV will feel dramatically faster. See our Firestick setup guide if you go that route.
